Tris(carboxyethyl)phosphine·HCl, also known as TCEP·HCl, is used to reduce disulfide bonds in protein samples. TCEP·HCl presents numerous advantages over the commonly used DTT and DTE: it is faster, stable to oxygen and metals, and appears as a non-volatile odourless solid. Furthermore, TCEP·HCl can be used at a broader pH range compared to DTT and DTE.
