Methyl 5-formylfuran-3-carboxylate
Description:

Methyl 5-formylfuran-3-carboxylate is a synthetic t-cell leukemia agent that has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on carcinoma cells. This compound is an isomer of methyl 5-formylhydroquinone and has been shown to inhibit the growth of staphylococcus, faecalis, and other bacteria. Methyl 5-formylfuran-3-carboxylate also inhibits the growth of various cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. The mechanism of action for this compound relies on its ability to inhibit cellular respiration by inhibiting mitochondrial ATP synthase.
