Product Information

Name:
c24 Ceramide (d18:1/24:0)
Description:

Ceramides are a class of sphingolipids that are important for maintaining the barrier function of the skin. C24 Ceramide is a fatty acid with 24 carbon atoms and one hydroxyl group. It is a major component of mammalian cell membranes and has been shown to be a key regulator in inflammation-related skin diseases such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. C24 Ceramide has been shown to reduce the inflammatory response by inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin 1β (IL-1β), from keratinocytes in cell culture. This agent also inhibits production of pro-inflammatory molecules from lipopolysaccharide stimulated cells.
