Product Information
Mots-C is a mitochondrial respiratory complex that contains the protein subunits of the electron transport chain. Mots-C is located in the inner mitochondrial membrane and transfers electrons from coenzyme Q to cytochrome c. It participates in aerobic respiration, which is a process by which cells use oxygen to generate energy. In humans, mitochondria are essential for metabolic processes and are involved in insulin sensitivity. Mots-C activity has been shown to be regulated by insulin sensitivity, as well as fatty acid oxidation, through linear regression analysis on human muscle cells (c2c12 myotubes). This study also found that acute kidney injury and cancer may cause mitochondrial dysfunction through changes in Mots-C activity.
