Description:

Esculentic acid is a chinese herb that has been shown to have a matrix effect on human serum. It was demonstrated to cause the inhibition of inflammatory diseases in vivo and in vitro. Esculentic acid inhibits TNF-α, an inflammatory cytokine, which may be due to its inhibitory effect on IL-10. The chemical structures of esculentic acid are similar to those of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as lipopolysaccharide, suggesting that it may act as a pro-inflammatory agent. This compound also has an inhibitory effect on the production of IL-1β and IL-6, which are pro-inflammatory cytokines.
