Product Information
GLPG 1837 is a novel amide that modulates autophagy, an intracellular degradation process that plays a key role in the maintenance of cellular homeostasis. GLPG 1837 has been shown to inhibit autophagy in human primary cells and to protect against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced lung injury. This compound also inhibits chloride conductance and produces bronchodilation in a rat model of asthma. The structural biology of this molecule has been elucidated by X-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy. GLPG 1837 is being developed as a potential treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
