Fludarabine triphosphate trisodium is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis. It has been shown to be active against the herpes simplex virus and other DNA viruses, as well as some malignant cells. Fludarabine triphosphate trisodium can be used in vivo to treat myelogenous leukemia by inhibiting protein synthesis and inducing apoptosis. Fludarabine triphosphate trisodium has been shown to have a dose-dependent effect on clinical response, with higher doses leading to better response rates. This drug also has a mitochondrial membrane potential effect, which may lead to its clinical relevance in various diseases.
