1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium-chloride (AMIM-Cl) may be used as a solvent to dissolve cellulose during the preparation of regenerated cellulose materials. It is also used as a solvent for the acetylation of cornhusk cellulose to form cornhusk cellulose acetates.
