Angelicin is a bioactive phytochemical that has been shown to exhibit anti-tumor, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. It has been found to inhibit the growth of colorectal adenocarcinoma cells in vivo by inhibiting the expression of drug transporters. The bioactivity of angelicin is dependent on its chemical structure and can be classified as either a basic or acidic compound. It also exhibits autophagic activity, which may be due to its ability to induce cell lysis. Angelicin is soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in benzene or ether.
The solubility of angelicin is pH-dependent and increases at higher pH values.
