The crystal structure of 2-amino-3-bromobenzoic acid bound to one conformer of the enzyme has been determined.2-Amino-3-bromobenzoic acid is not biologically active on its own; it must be converted into an active form by metabolic enzymes before it can inhibit the dehydrogenase enzyme.
