2-Amino-6-methoxybenzothiazole is a drug that is used to treat cervical cancer. It has inhibitory properties against the growth of human tumor cells in vitro. The inhibition of cell proliferation was shown to be mediated by the hydroxyl group, which interacts with the methyl ketones, leading to a decrease in the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. 2-Amino-6-methoxybenzothiazole also inhibits sodium carbonate and hydrochloric acid, which are important for transcription and translation of DNA. This drug has been shown to have no effect on proton NMR spectra or amines, but does react with coumarin derivatives. The reaction mechanism may involve an inorganic acid such as nitric acid or phosphoric acid.
