The reaction mechanism of ciprofloxacin lactate is similar to that of other fluoroquinolones in inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. This drug also has antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
