Description:Cyclan is an aza-crown ether (analogous to crown-ethers) with a molecular formula (CH2CH2NH)n, where n is 3 to 6. In the case of cyclan, or 1,4,7,10-Tetraazacyclododecane, its structure is formed by 4 units of CH2CH2NH (n=4). In chemical synthesis, the hydrogen atoms of the amine groups in cyclan are substituted by different functional groups to yield a series of modified 1,4,7,10-Tetraazacyclododecane or cyclans, which can be used as chelating agents.
