Description

Azilsartan medoxomil is a combination of two drugs, azilsartan and medoxomil. It is used to treat high blood pressure by lowering the systolic blood pressure. Azilsartan is a selective blocker of angiotensin II receptors. Medoxomil blocks the reabsorption of sodium in the kidneys, which increases the volume of urine and decreases blood volume. Azilsartan medoxomil does not have any known drug interactions or adverse effects on metabolism, but it should be taken with caution in patients with impaired renal function or liver dysfunction due to its potential for accumulation. The pharmacokinetics of azilsartan and medoxomil can be altered by metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus, obesity, and impaired glucose tolerance.
