Description:
1,4-Dithiane-2,5-di(methanethiol) is a monomer that belongs to the class of diisocyanates. It has been shown that this molecule reacts with a chloride ion to form a sulfide bond. The compound also has an absorption spectrum in the UV region with maxima at 253 and 290 nm. The compound can be used as an optical material or can be polymerized into polyurethanes. 1,4-Dithiane-2,5-di(methanethiol) is sensitive to oxidation by air and light.
