Description

4,2'-Dihydroxychalcone (4,2'-DHCH) is a natural compound that has been used as a model system to study the structure-activity relationship of methylene compounds. It has shown anticancer activity in colorectal carcinoma and other cancer cells. 4,2'-DHCH is structurally similar to the biologically active methylene compounds like retinoic acid and 3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenylglycol. The biological activity of 4,2'-DHCH is due to its hydroxyl group and carbonyl group which can react with proteins at the active site.
