3-Ethyl-3-methylglutarimide is a diagnostic agent that can be used to measure the α subunit of GABA. This chemical is also used in analytical methods, such as liquid chromatography, to study model organisms, such as bacteria and yeast. 3-Ethyl-3-methylglutarimide has been shown to have an effective dose at 100 mg/kg. It has been shown to enhance benzodiazepine binding by increasing the affinity of benzodiazepines for their receptors. 3-Ethyl-3-methylglutarimide is also known to be practically non-toxic and low potency.
