Furan-2-boronic acid is a reaction intermediate in the Suzuki coupling reaction, which is a cross-coupling reaction between an organoboron compound and an organic electrophile. Furan-2-boronic acid can be used as a chiral auxiliary to generate optically pure products. Furan-2-boronic acid has been shown to react with amines and other activated carboxylic acids to form amides, which are bioactive molecules. Furan-2-boronic acid can also be used in asymmetric synthesis reactions. This product's fluorescence properties make it useful for detection of boronate esters and other boron compounds in biochemical studies.
