Description:Glycyrrhetinic acid is the aglycone form of the triterpenoid glycyrrhizin that is naturally found in licorice root. In vitro studies have evidenced the antiâinflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial activites of glycyrrhetinic acid (Loizzo, 2013). In in vitro cell models and mice models of inflammatory conditions, glycyrrhetinic acid inhibited the release of interleukins and the tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha while showing a hepatoprotective effect (Yu , 2015).
