Product Information
- Benzoic acid, 4-amino-3-chloro-, methyl ester
Methyl 4-amino-3-chlorobenzoate is a reactive, insoluble, and basic chemical that can be used to label positron-emitting radiotracers. It is mainly used in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of the brain and heart. Methyl 4-amino-3-chlorobenzoate is also used for molecular imaging of cancer cells in living animals. This compound has been shown to be more efficient than other commonly used radiolabeled compounds for PET imaging because it emits gamma rays with high energy and low background noise. Methyl 4-amino-3-chlorobenzoate reacts with an inorganic base to produce a reagent that can react with the amine group of amino acids or proteins. The product from this reaction is then detected by positron emission tomography scanning.
