Product Information
Name:3-(2-Naphthyl)acrylic acid
Synonyms:
- Napthalene-2-acrylic acid 2-Naphthylcinnamic acid
Brand:Biosynth
Description:3-(2-Naphthyl)acrylic acid is a compound that inhibits the enzymatic activity of benzylpiperidine N-acetyltransferase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of benzylamine to benzylpiperidine. This inhibition prevents the production of dopamine and norepinephrine, with a consequent neuroprotective effect. 3-(2-Naphthyl)acrylic acid has been shown to be effective in reducing oxidative stress in intestinal fluids, thereby protecting against the damaging effects of free radicals. It also has antioxidant properties due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds. 3-(2-Naphthyl)acrylic acid can also be used as a cross-coupling agent in organic synthesis, due to its functional groups.
