Ozagrel is an experimental drug that belongs to the class of ester hydrochlorides. It has been shown to have chemical properties similar to those of dinucleotide phosphate (NDP) and can be used as a synchronous fluorescence probe for NDP. Ozagrel is an inhibitor of synthetase, which is the enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of glucose into NDP. The combination therapy group showed a statistically significant improvement in bowel disease when treated with ozagrel, compared with the control group. This drug also has cerebral protective effects and may prove useful in combination therapy for cerebral diseases such as stroke or Alzheimer's Disease.
