- Pyrazolo(3,4-B)Pyridine
- 1H-pyrazolo(3,4-b)pyridine
1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine is a chemical compound that contains a pyrazole ring and a benzene ring. It is an inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase and has been shown to be effective for the treatment of diabetic neuropathy. 1H-Pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine has also been observed to have anti-inflammatory properties in vitro. The molecule can inhibit the growth of fungi by binding to their cell wall, inhibiting the synthesis of proteins required for fungal cell division. 1H-Pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine has been found to bind to both bacterial and human DNA gyrase enzymes, as well as human topoisomerase IV enzymes. This binding blocks their activity and prevents them from maintaining bacterial or human DNA integrity. Hydrochloric acid is used as a catalyst in this reaction.
