Quinidine sulfate dihydrate is a medication that belongs to the class of antiarrhythmic drugs. It is used in the treatment of arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, and ventricular tachycardia. Quinidine sulfate dihydrate has an inhibitory effect on erythromycin-resistant bacteria, such as staphylococci and streptococci. This drug has also been shown to inhibit the growth of many types of cancer cells, including colon cancer cells. Quinidine sulfate dihydrate acts by inhibiting cellular ATPases.
