Description

Triphenyl phosphorothioate is a glycol ester that is chemically stable and has a low boiling point. It is used as a lubricant in high-temperature environments and can be mixed with sodium citrate for sterilization. Triphenyl phosphorothioate is also used as an antiseptic and disinfectant in the form of its sodium salt, which contains the active ingredient, triphenyl phosphate. The reaction mechanism of this chemical compound involves the formation of hydroxyl groups from the two hydroxide ions that are generated by the hydrolysis of water molecules. The resulting molecule forms a covalent bond between the two sulfur atoms, creating a disulfide bond.
