Temozolomide acid is a chemical compound with anticancer and diagnostic properties. It is an intermediate in the synthesis of temozolomide, a drug used for the treatment of cancer and other conditions. Temozolomide acid has been shown to have anti-cancer activity in vitro and in vivo, as well as to inhibit the growth of tumor cells. It has also been shown to inhibit tumor angiogenesis by interrupting the production of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). The final product is typically obtained by hydrolysis of the ester group at position 2 in temozolomide acid with an acidic solution. This reaction can be monitored using phase chromatography or by measuring its optical density at 234 nm.
