Description:Urapidil is a vasodilator that acts by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. It is used mainly in the treatment of congestive heart failure and high blood pressure. Urapidil has been shown to increase the levels of natriuretic peptides such as atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), which are important for the regulation of blood volume. Urapidil has also been shown to decrease systolic pressure in humans, although it may have toxic effects on liver cells. Urapidil is not metabolized in humans, but is hydrolyzed by enzymes in laboratory animals.
