Product Information

Name:
D-159687
Description:

D-159687 is a cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase inhibitor that blocks the breakdown of cyclic nucleotides, resulting in increased levels of cAMP and cGMP. It has been shown to be safe and effective for the treatment of depression and has been found to have a profile similar to that of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). D-159687 is currently being tested for its potential use in treating influenza virus infections, as well as skin conditions such as psoriasis. The effects of D-159687 on mitochondrial biogenesis have been studied using mouse hippocampal cells and x-ray crystal structures. In this model, D-159687 increases mitochondrial DNA copy number by upregulating transcription factors such as nuclear respiratory factor 1 (NRF1) and nuclear respiratory factor 2 (NRF2).
