Valsartan-d3 is a research tool that belongs to the class of ligands. It is an analog of valsartan, which has been shown to inhibit ion channels. Valsartan-d3 binds to the angiotensin II receptor and inhibits the activity of this receptor. This inhibition leads to vasodilation, which may be due to its ability to inhibit calcium release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum and intracellular calcium levels. Valsartan-d3 has also been shown to activate potassium channels and block ligand binding sites on receptors for peptide hormones such as vasopressin and oxytocin.
