Product Information
OSU 6162 hydrochloride is a drug that has been investigated for its potential use in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. It is a potent 5-HT2A receptor agonist, which may be due to its ability to bind to this type of receptor. OSU 6162 hydrochloride has been shown to produce a significant increase in locomotor activity in rats and mice, as well as displaying high values for dopamine release in the striatum during these studies. This drug also has effects on cytochrome P450 enzyme activity and is an inhibitor of decarboxylase, which converts L-DOPA into dopamine. OSU 6162 hydrochloride displays low affinity for 5-HT2C receptors, but it does not interact with other serotonin receptors (e.g., 5-HT1).
