Product Information
2-[4-Bromo-3-(hydroxymethyl)phenoxy]benzonitrile is a hydrogen bond compound that is polymorphic and has redox potentials. It has been shown to inhibit the enzyme activities of dioxygenase and hydroxylase in vitro, as well as to inhibit the growth of bacteria. 2-[4-Bromo-3-(hydroxymethyl)phenoxy]benzonitrile inhibits bacterial growth by binding to pyrazole ring, which prevents its tautomerization. This chemical is metabolized by hydrolysis of the bromide ion, oxidation of the benzonitrile ring, and hydroxylation of its phenolic group. 2-[4-Bromo-3-(hydroxymethyl)phenoxy]benzonitrile also binds to human serum albumin and may be used for the treatment of metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus or hyperlipidemia.
