Product Information
4-(Bis(4-fluorophenyl)methylene)piperidine is a high affinity ligand for the 5-HT2A receptor, which has been shown to be selective for this receptor. 4-(Bis(4-fluorophenyl)methylene)piperidine has an affinity of 10 nM for the 5-HT2C receptor and 2 nM for the 5-HT2A receptor. This compound also has antagonist activity at these receptors. It binds to the 5-HT2A receptor in a manner that is not competitive with serotonin, but instead causes serotonin to be displaced from its binding site on the receptor. The displacement of serotonin by 4-(Bis(4-fluorophenyl)methylene)piperidine may lead to antidepressant effects.
