Product Information
SPR719 is a small-molecule drug that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme that maintains the integrity of bacterial DNA. It has potent antibacterial activity against Mycobacterium avium and other mycobacteria. SPR719 was shown to be active in vitro against strains of MRSA, including those resistant to fluoroquinolones. In a clinical study, it was shown to be effective in treating infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and leprosy. The use of SPR719 may help prevent the development of antimicrobial resistance by inhibiting the production of ATP in bacteria.
