Product Information
AP C5 is a regulatory protein that inhibits the activity of many proteases. It is a member of the serpin family and is encoded by the SERPINA5 gene. AP C5 has been shown to have inhibitory properties against a wide range of proteases, including tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA), thrombin, trypsin, and elastase. This protein also showed transcriptional regulation and was found to be protective against inflammation in humans. The biological function of AP C5 is not well understood, but it has been shown to have a role in inflammatory diseases such as Goodpasture syndrome and infectious diseases such as HIV infection. A predictive model for AP C5 levels has been developed from data on serum levels, which may help with clinical development for these diseases.
