Shikonofuran A is a chemical compound that can be found in the boraginaceae family. It has been shown to have anti-aging properties and may also be used as a dietary supplement. Shikonofuran A has been shown to exhibit synergistic effects with other drugs, such as multidrug therapy, which are used for the treatment of cancer cells. The symptoms of shikonofuran A toxicity are not well understood and it is not yet known what tissue cultures will show the most sensitivity. Shikonofuran A has been shown to have no effect on liver cells, but does cause changes in cell morphology when cultured in vitro.
