N,N′-Bis(dibenzylideneacetone)palladium(0) (dtbbpy) is a ligand that binds to the receptor and activates it. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of ion channels, such as calcium channels, potassium channels, and sodium channels. The binding of dtbbpy to the receptor causes conformational changes in the protein which are necessary for signal transduction. Dtbbpy has also been shown to inhibit the production of proteins essential for cell division. Dtbbpy is used as a research tool in cell biology and pharmacology studies because it can selectively bind with receptors or ion channels.
