Description

N-Valeryl-D-glucosamine is an aldol product of the condensation of acetone and formaldehyde. N-Valeryl-D-glucosamine is a bioactive molecule that has been shown to be synthesized by the c-glycosidic linkage of D-glucose molecules in bacteria and fungi. It is also found in plants, such as sugar cane and sugar beet. The synthesis of this molecule occurs through the aldol reaction, which involves the unactivated ketones (acetone).
