Product Information
3’-Bromo-2’,3’-dideoxy-5-methyluridine is a nucleoside analog that is an antiviral agent. It has been shown to inhibit HIV in vitro and in animal models. It is active against HIV isolates that are resistant to other nucleoside analogs, such as zalcitabine. 3’-Bromo-2’,3’-dideoxy-5-methyluridine inhibits the viral RNA polymerase and DNA polymerase of the virus by competing with natural substrates for binding sites on these enzymes. This inhibition prevents the production of new viral RNA and DNA and can lead to a decrease in the amount of viral particles found in blood, lymphatic tissues, and cerebrospinal fluid.
