It is a novel anticancer agent that inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA in cells, and is a potent activator of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) reverse transcriptase. N4-Benzoyl-2’-O-(2-ethoxyethyl)-5-methylcytidine has been shown to have high purity and high quality. It is synthesized by the reaction of 5′ phosphoramidite with 2’, 4′, 5′ benzoyl cytidine.
