Product Information

Name:
UNC0321
Controlled Product
Description:

UNC0321 is a methyltransferase inhibitor that binds to the active site of histone proteins. It has been shown to inhibit the methylation of lysine residues and prevent the formation of heterochromatin. UNC0321 is currently being investigated as an anti-infective agent for drug-resistant bacteria, such as Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The chemical structure of UNC0321 was designed by modifying a known inhibitor of p21 protein. This modification prevents the binding of the enzyme to the substrate, thus inhibiting transcriptional regulation in cells.
UNC0321 has also been shown to have cytotoxic effects on liver cells due to its ability to suppress p21 protein levels and inhibit cell growth at low doses.
