Product Information

Name:
MK-4074
Description:

MK-4074 is a new drug that inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids in the liver. It is an extracellular inhibitor of fatty acid synthase, which is involved in the synthesis of fatty acids. This inhibition results in decreased hepatic steatosis and improved insulin sensitivity. MK-4074 has been shown to improve insulin resistance in humans with type 2 diabetes by reducing hepatic steatosis. The effects of MK-4074 on the transcriptome and proteome have also been investigated. In these studies, MK-4074 was found to reduce lipid content and expression of genes involved in lipid metabolism, including peroxisomal beta-oxidation and mitochondrial beta-oxidation. It also increased lipid oxidation rates as well as fatty acid oxidation rates.
