Description:
Alpha5IA is a benzodiazepine-binding compound that inhibits the activity of the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptor. It has been shown to inhibit neuronal death in mouse hippocampal cells and is being developed as a potential treatment for Alzheimer's disease. Alpha5IA has also been shown to have clinical efficacy in humans, with minimal side effects.
