It has been shown to inhibit macrophage inflammatory protein 2 in vitro, which could be due to its effects on the metabolic rate. E 7449 has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in vivo and to reduce the severity of bowel disease in a rat model. This drug has also shown promising results when used as a co-therapy with platinum-based chemotherapy for solid tumours.
