Product Information
GNF4877 is an oral medication that has been shown to enhance the ability of insulin-producing cells, called β-cells, to produce and release insulin in response to glucose levels. This drug selectively inhibits the kinase activity of a growth factor receptor called "growth factor receptor β" (GRβ), which is found on the surface of cells. The inhibition of GRβ leads to increased production of a protein called "effector protein 1" (E1P1) in pancreatic β-cells. Increased E1P1 enhances glucose uptake and stimulates the production and release of insulin by β-cells, which can be used as an alternative treatment for diabetes mellitus type 2.
