The acyl chain of TM5007 has been shown to be an important determinant for the biological activity of this molecule. TM5007 is orally bioavailable and can be used as a structural analysis tool for predicting the efficacy of other molecules. TM5007 inhibits the growth factor-induced proliferation of cardiac cells, and also blocks cardiomyocyte hypertrophy in vitro. It has also been shown to inhibit serine protease activity in cell culture experiments, which may provide a mechanism for its anticancer effects.
