Product Information
Padsevonil is a novel, non-selective allosteric modulator that has been designed to target the synaptic level. It is selective for the alpha-1 subunit of the GABA A receptor and acts as an allosteric modulator by binding to a site distinct from that of benzodiazepines. Padsevonil has been shown to be safe and effective in humans as an outpatient treatment for patients with treatment-resistant epilepsy. In clinical trials, padsevonil demonstrated a favorable safety profile and was found to be well tolerated at doses up to 1280 mg/day. The drug also had a signal detection endpoint at 1 mg/kg which was statistically significant and superior to placebo. Padsevonil continues to be evaluated in clinical studies for its potential use in treating other neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
