PD 168393 is a small molecule that has been shown to inhibit the activity of the PD-1 receptor on T cells. It binds to the PD-1 receptor and prevents it from binding to its ligand, PD-L1. PD 168393 is also able to bind to other types of receptors for basic proteins, such as α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, which are important for cellular signalling. This compound has been shown to be effective in vitro at inhibiting response elements for a number of cytokines, including IL-6 and IL-8. In addition, this drug has been shown in lab tests to have pharmacological properties that are similar to those of other drugs used in cancer treatments.
