It has been shown to be an agonist of the GABA receptor and an inhibitor of ligand binding to the NMDA receptor. 3-Methyl-1-trityl-1H-1,2,4-triazole is also a potent inhibitor of voltage gated potassium channels. This drug is used as a research tool for studying ion channels and has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation in breast cancer cells.
