Product Information
Androstan-3α,17β-diol-17β-glucuronide is a metabolite of testosterone that is formed from the 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase enzyme. It is resistant to prostate cancer cells and can be used as a pharmacological agent for the treatment of prostate cancer. The drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. This drug also has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used to treat breast cancer. Androstan-3α,17β-diol-17β-glucuronide binds to estrogen receptors which causes an increase in estrogen production. As a result, it decreases the level of estrone sulfate and increases the level of estradiol sulfate. This drug is not active against other cancers such as lung or colon cancer because these tumors have high levels of fatty acid synthase activity, which prevents this drug from binding to its receptor.
