Niga-ichigoside F1 is an antidiabetic agent that is extracted from the bark of a tree in the genus Niga. It has been shown to decrease the blood glucose level by increasing the production of insulin, suppressing gluconeogenesis, and inhibiting glycogenolysis. Niga-ichigoside F1 also contains triterpenoid saponins that are known to have anti-inflammatory properties. This drug has been used as a treatment for various types of cancer, such as skin cancer and breast cancer. Niga-ichigoside F1 may also be beneficial in preventing cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity and hepatic steatosis.
